LISTEN .... CARE....?

    When I ask you to listen to me
and you start giving me advice,
you have not done what I ask.

    When I ask you to  listen to me
and you begin to tell me why I shouldn't feel that way,
You are trampling on my feelings.

    When I ask you to listen to me,
and you feel you have to something to solve my problem
you have failed me, strange as that may seem.

    So, please listen and just hear me,
And if you want to talk, wait a minute for your turn;
And I will listen to you.

     If you are having trouble communicating....maybe the best thing you can do is to invite your loved one to share your feelings. Many times in writing or sharing with a friend, I've clarified my inner self.  When we are the listener: Put away your desire to quote Scripture, give advise, or to lecture.

Two favorite motto's are:

                                NOBODY CARES HOW MUCH YOU KNOW
                             UNLESS THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE.

                                             TALKING IS SHARING....
                                             LISTENING IS CARING.
